The minimum Housing Allowance is at least $13,568 for full-time for most areas of the annual conference and $15,829 for areas with unusally high housing costs.  Prorate these amounts by appointment time (e.g. at 3/4 time minimum standard housing allowance is $13,568 x 0.75 or $10,176). If actual housing costs are greater than or less than these amounts, an adjustment can be made in the Allocation of Pastor's Cash Salary section below in order to maximize tax advantages.

It is recommended that the pastor contribute at least 1% of the total compensation package in order to maximize the benefit they receive from the church's contribution to their retirement program.  Total compensation package = the value of cash salary + housing allowance or, if being provided a parsonage,125% of cash salary. Benefits

Clergy appointed three-quarter to full-time are entitled to the following benefits paid for by the church:

  • Church contrbution to the Clergy Retirement Security Program (CRSP) at 13% of total compensation
  • Church contribution to the Comprehensive Protection Program (CPP) (Life and disability insurance) at 3% of total compensation
  • Health insurance, (with vision and dental insurance options), premium paid by the church at $14,400 annually for 2020.  If clergy is appointed to more than one church, the percentage of this for which each church is responsible will be the same percentage as appointment percentage or as negotiated between the churches and D.S.

Benefits will be figured from the information entered in this worksheet and included in the Full-Time Clergy Compensation Form for Charge Conference Approval, which will be sent to you by the District Office after you submit this worksheet.
